Leonard Lauder was the heir to the cosmetic giant, the Estee Lauder Companies, alongside his brother, Ronald. During his time serving as the CEO of The Estee Lauder Companies, he helped the brand grow to immense heights.

Leonard Lauder passes away at 92, claims report

Leonard Lauder’s death at the age of 92 was confirmed in a statement from The Estee Lauder Companies. The business mogul took his last breath surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

In the statement, Leonard’s son, the chairman of the cosmetic company’s board of directors, William P. Lauder, conveyed that his father, Leonard, “worked tirelessly to build and transform the beauty industry.” (via Business Wire)

He further stated, “His impact was enormous. He believed that employees were the heart and soul of our company, and they adored him and moments spent with him. His warmth and thoughtfulness made an imprint on our company, the industry, and, of course, our family. Together with my family, The Estee Lauder Companies, and the countless people he touched, we celebrate his extraordinary life.”

Stéphane de La Faverie, the current CEO and President of Estee Lauder, added, “Leonard Lauder was beloved by many and will be missed tremendously. To our employees at The Estée Lauder Companies, he was an inspiration and a champion. To the industry, he was an icon and pioneer, earning respect worldwide. His energy and vision helped shape our company and will continue to do so for generations to come. He was a deeply compassionate leader who cared profoundly about every person in the company…He will be remembered by all of us.”

Leonard Lauder assumed the position of president of the company from 1972 until 1995. He also became the CEO in 1982 and worked in the position until 1999. Additionally, Leonard was announced as the chairman from 1995 to 2009.
