Before the release of the film, he spoke about director Vishal Furia’s film and his children in a conversation with Hindustan Times.
Kajol does films very carefully. He has done only eight films in the last 10 years. In such a situation, it is a big thing for them to choose a project. He said that I got the story of ‘Maa’ as a concept note and I liked it very much because I like mythology very much. There are such great stories in our country. One of my favorite stories is the story of mother Kali and Raktabij.
The film’s trailer depicts many scary scenes. The film is the story of a mother that protects her daughter from evil forces. There is also a scene in it in which Kajol’s character is seen in a lot of pain and his bones are broken. On this, Kajol said that I did not find that scene so scary, probably because I had shot him myself, but then he laughed and said, ‘Everybody around me was speaking, we cannot see you in this condition, but this is the effect of horror films and that is why this film will be effective.’
Kajol told that both his children have seen the trailer of Yuga and Nyasa film and they hope that both will also watch the film. He said that Nyasa may not watch the film because he does not like horror films. When he was asked if his children are now giving their opinion about his films, Kajol said that he has always given his opinion and that opinion has never changed. He still says, ‘We cannot see you crying. You should do films like Papa. Do films like Golmal. He likes films that only make him laugh, in which no one cries, there is no emotional scene and nothing is bad with me. I do not understand that if nothing happens to my character, what will I do in that film?
Mother’s role in the film ‘Maa’ is very important for her. Even before this, she has played a mother in ‘Helicopter Eela’, who interferes with her son’s life. On this, Kajol said that I was the same controlling mother earlier, but I am no longer. Now I am a calm and cold mood mother. Children grow up and bring their own thinking and thank God that this happens.
When he was asked about his parenting style, he told that his mother Tanuja’s method was completely different from him. He said that my mother was very strict. We lived in the same house with my mother, grandmother and parnani. It was not there that only the mother used to handle you, whatever was above 21 years, she could say anything to you. I am different from them, but some things are the same today. My mother and grandmother gave me so much love that never needed to scold or punish me.
The film ‘Maa’ is directed by Vishal Furia, including Ronit Roy and Indranil Sengupta. The film will be released in theaters on 27 June.
