Team India will begin a new chapter in Test cricket with a new skipper – Shubman Gill – at the helm. Gill’s first task will be a massive challenge against England in their own home as he begins a new World Test Championships (WTC) 2025-27 cycle with a five-match series beginning at Headingley in Leeds on Friday. Indians have not managed to win a Test series in England since 2007 under the captaincy of Anil Kumble. They had the best chance to win a COVID-19-interrupted series in 2021 but failed to seal the deal as England won the postponed final Test to level the series at 2-2.
