Low-cost carrier Eastar Jet announced that it will be the first among Korean airlines to launch a route between Busan and Phu Quoc, voted the world’s second most beautiful island, from July 26.
The airline will operate the route twice a week every Wednesday and Saturday and expanded the service four times a week from Sept. 3, Business Korea reported.
An Eastar Jet representative said Phu Quoc is a particularly popular Vietnamese resort destination recently, and there have been many requests from residents in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions for a domestic airline to operate this route.
Phu Quoc has received over 775,000 foreign arrivals in the first five months of this year, up 78.3% year-on-year.
Voted the world’s second most beautiful island by readers of Travel+Leisure magazine last year after the Maldives, Phu Quoc aims to attract 1 million foreign visitors in 2025.
