Arsenal will be hoping to confirm five new signings over the next 11 weeks with the summer transfer window now back open. Due to the Club World Cup, the trading period closed for a brief period last Tuesday despite having only been open since the start of June.

In that time, Despite a deal for Martin Zubimendi to join from Real Sociedad being in a strong place since February, some final details needed to be agreed.

There was also concern that Real Madrid could complete a late hijack but the general understanding is that Zubimendi will be reporting to Arsenal for pre-season.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is also expected to join from Chelsea with his £5million release clause needing to be activated. With two players expected to be signed in positions identified as needing depth, the next two-and-a-half months will be focused elsewhere.

football.london understands that For the latter, Dean Huijsen was their favoured target but he opted for a move to Real Madrid from Bournemouth.

The Gunners have held a long-term interest in Ajax's Jorrel Hato and are now believed to actively be in the race for his signature alongside Chelsea. There is no desperate need to sign a defender given the options though especially as two big additions in the frontline are quite clearly the priority.

There are several strikers both on the market and likely to move this summer with Arsenal looking intensely at Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig.

The latter currently appears to be the main focus for Andrea Berta with concrete negotiations ongoing between Arsenal and Leipzig. Initially, it looked as though he would be the more expensive signing but that no longer appears to be the case.

A gentleman's agreement between Gyokeres and Sporting was believed to be in place with £60million (€70m) seen as enough to sanction an exit. However, the Portuguese champions now want £67.4million (€80m) to sell him.

The Slovenia international is younger and has performed well in a better league but it is hard to look past Gyokeres' staggering numbers.

52 goals in the 2024/25 season regardless of the level is an impressive feat and he is quite clearly the finished article. If this dilemma was present two years ago, it would make complete sense to go for Sesko but Arsenal need to win now and therefore signing Gyokeres should be the choice.

In addition to that, a left winger coming into the club is another aim with Nico Williams and Rodrygo the main candidates. While the Real Madrid star does not seemingly have a clear place under new manager Xabi Alonso, he will cost a significant amount. Williams, meanwhile, is wanted at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Therefore, The Italian giants are currently demanding £84million (€100m) to sell him but no Champions League football for next season could see him push for an exit or their stance change.

The 26-year-old has the potential to be a great addition for Arsenal with that potentially the final piece of the puzzle towards silverware finally arriving.
