According to ZnewsTaiwanese media report that An has received no support from her in-laws and has been unable to access her husband’s frozen assets.

Chan was arrested in Jan. 2022 and convicted of operating illegal gambling businesses, money laundering, and fraud. He is currently serving a 13-year prison sentence. Since his arrest, An—who has retired from the entertainment industry to focus on family life—has been solely responsible for covering the living expenses of herself and their two children.

In an attempt to ease her financial burden, An reportedly applied to withdraw funds from a savings account held in her husband’s name, which is said to contain over HK$50 million (US$637,000). However, the bank denied her request due to the absence of legal inheritance documents or power of attorney from Chan. She later filed a lawsuit seeking access to the funds, but the case was dismissed for failing to meet legal requirements.

Once known for their extravagant lifestyle, An and Chan owned a private jet, multiple luxury properties, and even gifted their daughter a 10.22-carat diamond. But following Chan’s arrest, the family’s assets were frozen, leaving An in financial distress.

Despite the circumstances, An has reportedly chosen not to divorce Chan, reportedly for the sake of their children and to preserve the family’s structure. Sources say she has continued to keep a low profile and has not spoken publicly about her struggles.

An, 45, began her acting career in 2001 with the TV series “Marmalade Boy” and rose to fame with her role in the 2004 film “The Outsiders.” She later became a household name in both Taiwan and mainland China, starring in hit dramas such as “The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber” and “Autumn’s Concerto.”

After she met Chan in 2014, the two married in 2017, and An gradually stepped back from acting.

Chan, 53, faced 34 charges linked to his illegal casino operations, which were reportedly tied to more than US$4.5 billion in transactions and an estimated US$200 million in profits, according to Macao Times.
