The wait is almost over as India and England will start their five-match Test series on Friday, June 20, at Headingley in Leeds.

 

On Monday, June 16, RevSportz journalist Subhayan Chakraborty posted a video of the pitch. What caught everyone's attention was the thick green grass on the pitch, which made it difficult to find the actual pitch. Fans immediately responded online, concerned that the surface might be difficult for batters, especially for the batters of team India who don't have enough experience of playing in such conditions.

 

This Test signals a new era for Team India; with former Indian Test skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both having retired from Test cricket. Several of their fans were worried about India managing without these two legends, particularly on such a green pitch. Curator Clarifies Grass Will Be Mown

 

According to cricket tradition, a pitch is frequently kept under cover with added grass in order to preserve it until match day. Experts maintain that with four days to go, the grass would be mowed, and the surface will be prepared in the proper manner.

But he also cautioned that batting would remain challenging as it has always been, especially for the visiting batters, and hence the players will have to be at their best to score big at this surface.
