Government took a big step for Indian students trapped in Iran

The atmosphere of tension between Iran and Israel continues. In such an environment, the Government of India has expressed concern about the safety of Indian students who have gone to study in Iran. The Government of India has sought permission to take students of Indian origin to Armenia from Iran to Armenia. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs is in constant touch with Indian students present in Iran. There is every effort to protect all Indian students studying there and other Indian citizens working there. In its official statement, the Government of India has said that some Indian students in Iran are being transferred to “safe places” within the country.

Indian students transferred to safe places within Iran

A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that the Indian embassy in Tehran is constantly monitoring the security situation and is contacting them to ensure the safety of Indian students in Iran. In some cases, students are being transferred to safe places within Iran with the facility of embassy. Other possible options are also being considered.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wrote on the social media platform X, “I am in touch with the Ministry of External Affairs in relation to the emerging situation in Iran, especially Tehran, Shiraz and other cities in relation to Kashmiri students.” The ministry is in close contact with officials in Iran.

More than 1,500 students present in Iran

Let us tell you that more than 1,500 students have gone to Iran to study. Most of them are residents of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the records of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, there are a total of 10765 Indian citizens in Iran, of which around 1500 are Indian students.
