A 10-month-old infant, identified as Aneesh Kumar, tragically lost his life after reportedly swallowing a discarded beedi stub at his residence in Adyar. The child was the son of a migrant couple from Bihar.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, when the baby accidentally swallowed the stub left behind by his father. The child was rushed to Wenlock District Hospital at around 3:30 p.m., where doctors administered treatment. However, despite medical efforts, the infant succumbed on Sunday morning at 10:25 a.m.

In her complaint, the grieving mother alleged that her husband’s negligence led to the tragedy. She stated that she had repeatedly warned him against carelessly discarding beedi stubs inside the house, but her pleas were ignored.

Authorities are investigating the incident further.
