Bengaluru: A brief spell of panic gripped parts of the city on Monday after schools in the jurisdictions of Kalasipalya, Kumbalgodu, and Rajarajeshwari Nagar police stations received bomb threat emails. Authorities later confirmed the threats were hoaxes, bringing relief to students, staff, and parents.
According to sources, the emails threatened to blow up school buildings if justice was not delivered in a recent sexual assault case reported from Hyderabad. The vague threat, referencing the case, alarmed school authorities.
Following the alerts, bomb disposal squads, bomb detection units, and fire services personnel were immediately dispatched to the concerned schools. Thorough searches were conducted, but no explosives or hazardous materials were found.
Police have since confirmed that the messages were part of a fake bomb threat. Cybercrime teams are now analyzing the origin of the emails and investigating further. Authorities assured the public that necessary precautions were taken and urged citizens not to panic.
