According to a report from Ouest-France, Stade Rennais are set to make a profit from Mathys Tel’s (20) €40 million (including bonuses) move from Bayern Munich to Tottenham Hotspur.
Tel came up through the Rennes academy system, making his professional debut with the Breton side in 2021. However, the then teenager’s time in Ligue 1 would be short-lived, he was quickly snapped up by Bayern Munich in 2022 for a fee of around €28 million.
However, Rennes also included a 25% sell-on fee, although with various bonuses associated with the move, it is not yet certain how much Rennes will earn, but they are predicted to receive around €4-7 million. Ouest-France also writes that Rennes should receive around €300,000 due to FIFA’s solidarity mechanism.
Tel spent the past six months on loan at Tottenham, where he helped the club receive their first silverware since the 2008 season by winning the Europa League against Premier League rivals Manchester United.
