The summer transfer window is back open, which means only one thing for fans. For the next 11 weeks, they will be braced for the kind of frenzied activity that has marked the club since began his turbulent reign in May 2022.

Already, six new additions have been confirmed in west London. Sporting CP midfielder Dario Essugo has been signed, while his club team-mate Goevany Quenda will stay in Portugal on loan for another season before joining the Blues in a deal potentially worth £44m. striker Liam Delap and Starusbourg defender Mamdou Sarr were both signed , and South American stars Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez will join in July on pre-arranged transfers.

However, the club's work is anything but done. Express Sport looks at what would represent a dream scenario for Enzo Maresca come 7pm on Monday, September 1...

Garnacho and Gittens get their big moves

Maresca has made no secret of his desire to deploy wide forwards in a flexible system. With deemed surplus to requirements after his loan spell, the Blues have upped their pursuit of his former team-mate Jamie Gittens.

However, may well still be the prime target. The Uruguayan international's has surely paved the way for Maresca to sign the star, whom United value at around £70m. Gittens is likely to cost in the region of £40m, and the Italian may want both stars on board to bolster his attacking ranks.

Milan make U-turn over Maignan

Chelsea's will surely now be renewed with the transfer window back open. Milan's initial £21m valuation was deemed to be too high for the French international, given that he has just a year left on his contract.

That time factor alone means there is only so long the club can play hardball. The No.1 position proved costly to Chelsea last season, and the Premier League club are unlikely to let this one go. Maignan to sign.

'New Pique' bid accepted by Benfica

Stamford Bridge has become a revolving door for central defenders these past three seasons, but now Chelsea are being linked to one who could be their rock at the back for years to come. Benfica star Tomas Araujo, 23, is being billed as the 'next Gerard Pique' in some quarters, with his ability to command a defence and play out from deep.

The Blues are reportedly preparing a bid for the Portuguese international, first capped by his country last October. He's said to be valued at £67m, money well spent if he fulfils his growing potential.

Star names sold for more than £100m

Buying players is one thing, but Maresca undoubtedly needs to trim his bloated squad this summer for two reasons: to clear out deadwood and generate transfer funds to fund big-money moves.

, Christopher Nkunku, and João Félix signed for a combined total of £144.5m, and the trio should still command healthy fees if sold. Add to that departures for misfiring keeper Roberto Sanchez and left-back Ben Chilwell, and more than £100m should be recuperated.
