Preparations to bring internet revolution in remote areas of India are now in its final stages. Alan Musk’s satellite internet service Starlink has received significant approval from the Government of India and this service can be started in the coming months. After getting a license from the Ministry of Telecommunications, the company is now making fast preparations to start its services in India. The purpose of this service is to deliver high-speed internet to the rural and inaccessible areas of the country where traditional broadband networks are not present or are very weak.

What is Starlink and how does it work?

Starlink, Alan Musk’s space company is a satellite internet service operated by Spacex. This service delivers the Internet signal directly to the users through satellites installed in the lower class of the Earth. This technique does not require mobile tower, fiber cable or any other wire structure.

Since the satellites of the Starlink are close to the Earth, its internet speed is high and the latency (delay in the signal) is very low. This is the reason that this service is considered suitable for works like streaming, video calls, online classes and gaming in remote areas.

Starlink India: Speed and Experience

According to reports, Starlink users are likely to get internet speed ranging from 25 Mbps to 220 Mbps. This speed will depend on the location of the users and the clarity of the sky, as an open environment is required to directly receive the satellite signal.

Hardware kit and subscription prices

Users will need a hardware kit to start a starlink service, which will include a satellite dish and a router. The possible price of this kit is said to be around ₹ 33,000, which is almost the same for the prices of neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Bhutan. A subscription amount of up to ₹ 3,000 can be taken for a month -long unlimited internet service. Along with this, the company is also planning to give a one -month free trial, so that customers can try the service first and then take a decision.

Speculation of cheap scheme

Earlier there were speculation that Starlinks could also offer an initial plan of ₹ 840 per month (about $ 10), which would be under a promotional offer. However, it is not clear whether this cheap scheme will be applicable across India or will be limited to only certain areas.

When will the service start in India?

Starlink has received necessary permission from India’s Telecommunications Department (DOT). Now the company is waiting for final approval from the country’s Space Authority in-Space. If all processes are completed on time, then this service can start in India by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026.
