WhatsApp A major change is going to be revealed for users. This messaging app, which has been completely free so far, is going to include advertising and paid features on its platform soon. The company, which adds new features in the name of improving the user experience, is now moving fast on the path of montage. This change is considered to be the company’s biggest strategic initiative after the acquisition of WhatsApp by META in 2014.
Every day more than 1.5 billion people use status and channel features on WhatsApp. Both these features are present in the “Update tab” of the app and now advertisements will also be seen in this tab. However, the company has clarified that advertisements will not be shown in chats, calls and groups.
Whatsapp said in its statement, “We have been considering creating a business model over years that do not impress your personal chat and we think the update tab is a suitable place for these features.”
Not only advertisements, but now the paid channel subscriptions and promoted channels will also start appearing in the update section. Users have to subscribe to the preferred channel to get exclusive information and pay a fee every month for this. This step of Whatsapp can prove to be a new revenue generation model for content creators and brands.

Whatsapp has also assured that all these changes will only be limited to the update tab and there will be no interference in personal messaging experience. The company said, “If you use WhatsApp only to talk to friends, then there will be no change in your experience.”
