The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) has said there is no proof of ball tampering by R Ashwin or his team Dindigul Dragons.
Earlier, the Madurai Panthers CEO D Pooja had accused Ashwin’s team of using a chemically treated towel to change the ball during their match on June 14 in Salem.
TNPL confirmed that they got the complaint at 10:51 PM on June 15. A full review was done, but no evidence was found.
The towels used in the match were given by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association and were available to both teams. The match officials – including umpires and the match referee – kept watch over the ball the entire time. They raised no issues during the game.
TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan said the complaint seems speculative and after the match, with no strong proof shared.
However, the TNPL said if Madurai Panthers have real evidence – like video, photos, or witness statements – they can ask for an independent inquiry by 3 PM on June 17.
