News India Live, Digital Desk: Travel Guide: Kashi Nagari (which Banaras Or is also known as Varanasi) not only a city, but a vibrant soul of India. This religious and spiritual center has been drawing devotees and tourists towards them for centuries. But sometimes some passengers who come for the first time make some such mistakes, which can fade their Kashi experience. If you are planning to travel to Banaras, then definitely avoid these 5 mistakes, so that your journey can become unforgettable and amazing:
1. Not Booking Accommodation in Advance):
Kashi is always full of devotees and tourists, especially in festivals or peak season (October to March). If you find a hotel or guest house on the occasion, then you may not find a favorite place, or what you get is very expensive. With this, your journey can start with trouble.
Advice: As soon as you plan your journey, book the hotels/guest houses near Dashashwamedh Ghat, Assi Ghat, Godohalia or Lanka in advance. These places are the best in terms of facilities and connectivity.
2. Ignoring Local Etiquette and Traditions:
Banaras is a religious and culturally rich city. People here are very serious about their traditions and culture. You may feel bad with your small lapse.
Advice: Wear decent clothes while going to temples and religious places (with full -arm and body covering). Avoid Public Display of Affection – PDA in public places. Honor the rituals on the ghats or in temples and do not interrupt them. Covering the head (especially for women) while entering the temple or praying is considered a good and respectable behavior.
3. Not Trying Local Street Food):
Came to Banaras and did not taste the taste of delicious street food here, then you have lost something! The food streets here are a treasure of taste.
Advice: Be sure to taste the famous kachori-vegetable, potato chaat, tomato chaat, cold, malai (winter), lassi and Banarasi paan. Just keep in mind that where you are eating, that place is clean. Avoid eating from any suspect or unclean shop.
4. Sticking only to main ghats:
It is memorable to see the Ganges Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat or see the sun rising by sitting on the eighty ghats, but Banaras is not limited to these two-three ghats only.
Advice: Do not stop only to the main ghats. In the morning, ride the boat and see other ghats (eg Harishchandra Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, Panchganga Ghat, Tulsi Ghat) and consider their historical/religious importance. Walking in the narrow streets of the city, look at the work of local markets, small and big temples (such as Durga Temple, Nepali Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor) and handloom weavers. Every corner here tells a story.
5. Ignoring Local Transportation Options:
If you take expensive taxis or private autos for everywhere in Banaras, then you can be overwhelming on the pocket and you will not get the real experience of the city.
Advice: It is best to walk to walk on the ghats, this will make you feel the heartbeat. Use sharing auto or e-rickshaws (rickshaws, e-rickshaws) for a short distance, they are quite economical. And yes, while taking an auto or rickshaw, you may have to negotiate in advance for rent, otherwise you may have to pay more money. Hiring a boat to roam the Ganges river can be a great experience, but only after fixing the rate.
By avoiding these mistakes, you can make your journey to Kashi a memorable and excellent experience. So whenever plan to travel to Banaras, keep these things in mind. Your journey is auspicious!
