Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)) Has alerted Android and iPhone users to delete it immediately if a special text message comes on your mobile. According to FBI, in June, cases to such scam messages have seen more than 700% increase. These messages are originating from China and many cities and states of America are being targeted.
Earlier people used to get fake messages with “unpaid toll text”, but now they have been replaced by the new “DMV text”. According to Cyber Security Company Guardio, such messages saw an increase of 773% in the first week of June. These messages take users to fake websites, from where their credit card details are stolen and money is rigged.
In a statement to Forbes, FBI Tennessi special agent David Palmer said, “The same cyber criminals behind the DMV scam are earlier running ‘unpaid toll scams’. These people are operating from abroad and sending dangerous malware.” This malware can enter the device and steal sensitive data and damage the bank information.

David Palmer has advised that if the message comes from an unknown number, never click on the link given in it. Scammers also use domains like .Gov to show fake websites. In such a situation, it is important to be vigilant.
Cyber security company Resecurity has also warned that such scam messages may increase rapidly in the coming months. According to him, a scammer can send about 20 lakh messages per day, which can affect up to 72 crore users every year. With this, every American citizen can be a victim of this cyber fraud at least twice a year.
