Renowned celebrity chef and Food Network star Anne Burrell has passed away at the age of 55. She was found unresponsive at her Brooklyn, New York home early Tuesday morning, and was declared dead at the scene by emergency services, according to the NYPD. The exact cause of death remains unknown and is currently under investigation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Born on September 21, 1969, in Cazenovia, New York, Burrell’s passion for food began at home, nurtured by her mother’s cooking and inspired by TV culinary pioneer Julia Child. She initially pursued a degree in English and Communications at Canisius College in Buffalo but soon followed her true calling-food.
Burrell graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in 1996, and later studied in Italy at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Her time abroad deepened her love for Italian cuisine, where she trained in regional kitchens and embraced Mediterranean flavors.

Anne’s professional journey included working in some of New York City's most respected restaurants, such as Felidia under Lidia Bastianich and Savoy in SoHo. Her talents didn’t go unnoticed, and she transitioned into teaching at the Institute of Culinary Education before entering television.
Her first major appearance was as a sous chef on Iron Chef America, but her breakout moment came with Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, which aired for nine successful seasons starting in 2008 and even earned her an Emmy nomination.
