New Delhi: The five-match Test series between India and England is scheduled to start on Friday June 20. Team India reached Leeds on Tuesday and they have been practicing hard ahead of the series opener Test. But in the most recent developments legendary cricketer Rishabh Pant has raked up grave accusations of favorism against the Indian national team coach.
A report by Cricbuzz indicated that the camp of the Indian team was not free of tensions as not only were there hard tackles among the players to force competitive attitude there was as well some sledging by the players. Some of the star players also worked hard in terms of batting bowling and fields training and Rishabh Pant and Gilra were more intense than others. Wednesday was the first time fielding coach T Dilip brought-in direct-hit challenge. This was when the fielding coach appeared to favor some players in this drill which prompted the allegation of favoritism by the fielding coach by Pant.
Arre who toh lefty hai usko left mein hi khada karoge said Rishabh. However it was all joking. The drill was followed by the light-hearted argument over the final scores that completed the intensive but entertaining session. Prior to that however there were a couple of highlight moments - Prasidh Krishna Karun Nair and Kuldeep Yadav had all scored a pair of direct hits each.
However everything is a joke. The earlier videos of the BCCI on the fielding practice of Dilip have shown time and again that the cricketers of India train very seriously and that they compete with each other and even joke among themselves. This is a joke too on the part of Pant.
During this warm up session Karun Nair Kuldeep Yadav Prasidh Krishna were among the three who broke their stumps twice in direct hits. But the hard practice began after this play contest. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul went out into the nets Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were spotted with the ball. Both the star bowlers were spotted bowling well on Wednesday. Then the captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Pant were spotted batting. Prasidh Krishna struck Karun Nair in the lower abdomen. A blow below the ribs made Karun groan; but after a time the pain ceased.
Rahul Pant Yashasvi were not able to take on Bumrah much today with any rhythm. But Shubman Gill appeared rather rhythmic. He was a good batting practice.
