Delhi Weather Updates- Delhi submerged before monsoon arrives, IMD alert issued

By Jitendra Jangid- Friends, pre-monsoon in Delhi has provided relief from the scorching heat, due to this heavy rain, waterlogging and traffic was disrupted in many areas of the city. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), pre-monsoon rains may continue and monsoon rains are also expected to start soon. Let's know the weather condition of Delhi-

1. Roads submerged across the capital

Due to heavy rains, many low-lying areas of Delhi were flooded up to knees. The worst affected areas include:

Underpass near Delhi Cantonment

Zakhira Underpass

Pul Prahladpur

ITO

Najafgarh Road

Rohtak Road

Due to these conditions, the movement of vehicles was badly disrupted, causing a long traffic jam.

2. Flights diverted at Delhi airport

12 flights were diverted at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport due to bad weather between 3 pm and 4 pm on Tuesday.

3. Temperatures drop after rain

The IMD recorded the following rainfall levels in different parts of Delhi:

Safdarjung: 10 mm

Lodhi Road: 5 mm

Pusa: 41 mm

Narayana: 15 mm

Ayanagar: 23 mm

Wind speeds reached 35-40 km/hr at Palam and Safdarjung stations.

Maximum temperature: 36.2°C (3.8°C below average)

Minimum temperature: 28°C (1.5°C above average)

4. Yellow alert for June 18 and beyond

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for June 18, forecasting:

Thunderstorms with lightning

Light to moderate rain

Winds at speeds of 50-60 km/hr (especially during night)

Expected temperature range:

Max: ~34°C

Min: ~27°C

This alert will remain in effect till Thursday.

5. IMD warnings and safety measures

Moderate thunderstorms with intense lightning (potentially life threatening)

Traffic disruptions

Delays in flight and train services

Threat to outdoor working staff and vulnerable infrastructure
