Donald Trump has heightened fears that the United States may get involved in the now six day war between Israel and Iran, which has sparked concerns that the escalating conflict could devolve into World War 3.
In comments late on Wednesday, the said cryptically, "The next week is going to be very big," and then added after reflection, "maybe less than a week," as residents in Tehran wait in fear to learn if the world's largest military superpower will be joining the war which has already devastated the capital.
At the same time, it was reported by the Wall Street Journal that President Trump has already given the US' plan to join the war on Iran but is just waiting to give the "final order" to unleash America's air might on Iran's nuclear programme.
Speaking at the White House, Mr Trump described Israel's strikes on Iran as "devastating", adding: "It's a terrible thing. I hate to see all that death, so much death and destruction".
The President also said he has "ideas as to what to do" but added: "I like to make a final decision one second before it's due."
