Nimrat Kaur , who comes from an army family , credits her nomadic upbringing for keeping her grounded in the unpredictable world of showbiz , despite having no film industry background. “I think a big part of why I am an actor is because I haven’t grown up in a comfort zone,” she explains. “I don’t have childhood friends or places I’ve lived in for more than two to three years. That constant change made me passionate about discovering new places, meeting new people, and embracing the unfamiliar.”

She believes this lifestyle didn’t just fuel her love of travel but also shaped her adaptability as an actor. “It is really akin to what has happened in my life as an actor,” she adds. While many actors venture into businesses — from launching restaurants to building fashion labels — to offset the volatility of the entertainment industry, Kaur prefers to focus solely on her craft. “I wouldn’t call myself a hustler to begin with, so I don’t reckon with the word ‘side-hustle’… principally from that perspective,” she says.

Although she chooses not to diversify into other industries, she is committed to her other passion, which is travel. “I love travelling a lot. I pursue it diligently; it’s like food for my soul. I treat it as a vertical requirement for my well-being, as important as acting,” says Nimrat.
