The story follows Na-mi who loses her smartphone on her way home from work. It is later returned to her by Jun-Yeong played by Jang Si-Wan who secretly installs spyware on the device. The intruder begins to monitor her daily activities and eventually reaches out to her concealing his identity. As a result Na-mis seemingly normal life starts to unravel and her father Police Detective Ji-man (played by Kim Hee-Won) discovers clues related to his son at the scene of the crime. The premise of Unlocked is both intriguing and a chilling reminder of how dependent we have become on our smartphones. These pocket-sized supercomputers store all our conversations with friends and family our memories our work schedules our hobbies and even our banking details. Currently the movie has a rating of 6.4 on IMDb which is filled with twists and turns that keep audiences engaged. It is based on the Japanese novel of the same name by Akira Teshigawara which was also adapted into the 2018 film Stolen Identity. Principal photography for Unlocked began in March 2021 and concluded on June 27 2021. While it was initially scheduled for a theatrical release by CJ ENM it was ultimately decided to premiere the film on Netflix.
