Even as Pune city and district continue to battle continuous rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for June 19, 2025. There is a high possibility of heavy to very heavy rain, especially in the ghat areas of Pune, over the next 24 hours.

The district administration has appealed to citizens to take necessary precautions and avoid travel to vulnerable or flood-prone areas.

The alert has also been issued for Nashik.

Water released from Khadkawasla

Meanwhile, water has been released into the Mutha River from the Khadakwasla dam due to continuous rainfall in the catchment areas of dams supplying water to Pune. Waterlogging was also reported in areas like Sinhagad Road, Dhayari, and Kothrud.

Pune district is likely to experience "partial reduction in visibility," "slippery roads," "major disruption in traffic flow," "moderate waterlogging in parts of low-lying areas and adjacent to river banks," and a "possibility of falling/small tree branches." The ghat areas may witness "loosening of rocks due to persistent rains, leading to the possibility of minor landslides/mudslides in elevated hilly areas."

The IMD has advised people to "avoid travel during times of heavy rainfall," "drive slowly as visibility may reduce and roads may be slippery due to the rain spells," and to "avoid visiting ghat areas."
