As part of its continued commitment to community development and youth engagement, NTPC Bongaigaon, under the aegis of the Sports Council, distributed football kits to the NTPC Football Club (NTPC FC) – a team comprising local football talent in and around the power station. The event was graced by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, who handed over the kits to the players and encouraged them to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and carry forward the pride of NTPC on and off the field.

NTPC FC, a registered team under the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA), has actively participated in A Division and league matches in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Over the past two years, the team has made significant strides and earned recognition in the region, emerging as a symbol of grassroots talent nurtured through corporate support.

Speaking on the occasion, Arnab Maitra appreciated the dedication of the players and expressed confidence in the team’s performance in forthcoming Super Division matches. He reiterated NTPC's commitment to supporting youth through structured engagement in sports and other community-building activities. The initiative reflects NTPC Bongaigaon’s CSR focus on youth empowerment, sports promotion, and social inclusion. By supporting local athletes with proper equipment and a platform to showcase their skills, NTPC is not only encouraging a healthy lifestyle but also contributing to social cohesion and regional pride.

The players expressed their gratitude to NTPC Bongaigaon for the support and encouragement that has been instrumental in their growth. The distribution ceremony was attended by Amit K. Asthana, AGM (HR); Souvik Sen, General Secretary, Sports Council; Ajay Ram Baro, General Secretary, NTPC Bongaigaon Employees Union; Pinchu Daimary, President of the Employees Union, and officials from the HR Department.

Through such initiatives, NTPC Bongaigaon continues to champion the cause of community upliftment, using sports as a medium to empower youth and create positive social impact.
