But if you adopt a little patience and a little understanding, then you can make your garden green without spending more. Its most effective and practical way is to grow plants with cuttings. This is not only easy but also a pleasant experience of connecting with nature. Cutting means cutting the branch, leaf or stem part of a plant and growing in a new place. Within a few days this part removes roots and becomes a new plant. Let us know in this article how you can adopt this method and bring greenery to your garden.

Plants that are easy to grow from cuttings

Not every plant grows from cutting but many common and popular plants grow very easily in this way. Such as roses, jaggery, money plant, basil, pothos, celery, jasmine, shefflera and lemon grass. You can bring these plants home only with a branch from the gardens, neighbors or friends around you.

Choose healthy, green and disease-free plant to take cuttings. Cut 4-6 inch long twigs so that the roots are easy to get out of it. Remove the leaves below and keep 1-2 leaves above. Now apply this cutting in soil or water. Plants like money plants also take root in water, while soil is better for the rest of the plants.

Which soil to use?

Light and brittle soil is needed to apply cutting. For this, make a mixture of 50% horticulture soil, 25% sand and 25% of the rotten manure of cow dung. This combination gives the roots to breathe and also prevents rot. Apply cuttings in about 2 inches of soil and give light water.

Do not keep the cutting in very strong sunlight. Place it in a shady place where the wind also keeps on coming. Sprinkle light water daily but do not give too much water, otherwise the cutting can rot. If new leaves or roots start appearing in cuttings in 10-15 days, then the plant is ready. Now you can shift it to a big pot.

Garden Cheaply and Serve the Environment Too

Growing plants from cutting is not just a cheap option. It is also beneficial for the environment. With this you avoid things like plastic pots, packing and transport and promote local greenery. Also, this method also gives children and family a beautiful opportunity to connect with nature.
