Weather Update: Heavy rain alert: Storm and rain in Haryana-Delhi, IMD warning: Under the heavy rain alert, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rains in seven states including Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan from 20 to 25 June 2025.

Monsoon has gained momentum across the country. There is also a possibility of strong winds and lightning. While this rain can bring relief to farmers, it can also increase the risk of waterlogging and landslides. Let us understand the latest update of IMD.

Danger of storm and rain in North India Weather Update

Heavy rains are expected in Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh from June 20 to 25. According to the IMD, Uttar Pradesh may receive very heavy rains on June 20, Himachal on June 22 and 25, and Rajasthan on June 23.

Strong winds will blow at a speed of 40-50 km per hour in these states. There may be lightning risk and thundershowers. People have been advised to be cautious.

Heavy rains in east and central India

Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal will receive continuous rain from 20 to 25 June. There is a warning of extreme rainfall in Jharkhand and Odisha on 20 June. Rain will intensify in eastern Madhya Pradesh on 21 June.

Waterlogging and flood-like conditions may occur in these areas. North-eastern states like Assam, Meghalaya, and Manipur are also at risk of landslides due to heavy rainfall. Farmers should be prepared to protect their crops.

Monsoon activity in South and West India

Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra will receive moderate to heavy rains from June 20 to 25. Torrential rain is expected in Gujarat on June 22 and 23.

Kerala and Karnataka will experience strong winds (40-60 kmph) and heavy rains from June 22 to 25. The Meteorological Department has advised people to be alert and take necessary steps to avoid floods or waterlogging (flood risk).
