On June 19, the dance film ABCD 2, featuring Prabhu Deva and Varun Dhawan, marked its 10th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, the multi-talented Prabhu Deva announced that a third installment of the dance franchise is in the works.
Reflecting on his experience, Prabhu Deva expressed, “I truly enjoyed collaborating with my fellow choreographer Remo D’Souza, who guided me throughout the film. The choreography was primarily handled by others, allowing me to focus on acting and dancing.”
When asked about his preference between acting and dancing, he stated, “Are you referring to acting or dancing? Honestly, dancing is a form of acting in itself, so I don’t differentiate between the two. However, I don’t particularly enjoy choreographing my own performances, which is why I found ABCD so fulfilling.”
The ABCD series holds significant value for Prabhu. He remarked, “With ABCD and ABCD 2, Remo D’Souza has pioneered a new genre in Indian cinema. I could have directed a dance film in Hindi, but I’m grateful I didn’t. I doubt I could have executed it as well as Remo. He excels at weaving narratives around dance, and I’m just thrilled to be part of ABCD, ABCD 2, 3, 4, and 5 as long as he continues to create them.”
Currently, Prabhu Deva is taking a break from directing. “I’m overwhelmed with acting roles and relishing every moment. It’s a temporary phase. I have around six acting projects underway in Tamil, Malayalam, and one in Hindi. The last film I directed was Radhe with Salman Khan. I’m uncertain when I’ll return to directing.”
