Melbourne: Former Australia Test captain Tim Paine has been given great responsibility. He has been appointed as the head coach of the Australia A men team for the series against Sri Lanka. The series will begin with the series against Sri Lanka A in Darwin from 4 July.
Darwin will include National fast bowling coach Edam Griffith with Tim Paine, Australian women’s team assistant coach Scott Presties, and Northern Territory Cricket Pathway and Development Coach Trent Cip with Tim Paine, Australia A coaching group for the series against Sri Lanka A.
CA Executive General Manager of National Teams Ben Oliver expressed happiness over Tim Penn’s appointment as Australia A head coach. He said that Tim has been actively contributing to national programs for the last two years and will now use his passion and modern coaching experience to enhance future Australian cricketers in this role. Tim’s rich sports and coaching experiences will be important in taking emerging players to the next level.
Penn represented the national team between 2009 and 2021. He will continue to provide coaching assistance to the Australian women’s team in the upcoming session besides his coaching commitments for Australia A and Adelaide Strikers.
She has worked in auxiliary capacity with the Australian women’s team and Australia A men’s program during the last two years and coached PM XI against India in December last.
Meanwhile, non-approved left-handed spinner Zeden Jeh has also been included in Australia A team for the multi-format series against Sri Lanka in Darwin. Jeh took five wickets for 27 runs in his first second XI match against ACT last season. After that Glenn Maxwell was caught on the boundary in the match at the junction. He has taken 27 wickets in premiere cricket for South Brisbane and scored 465 runs.
