Simone Ashley, widely recognized for her performances in Sex Education and Bridgerton, was poised to make her significant Hollywood on-screen debut in the eagerly awaited sports drama F1 featuring Brad Pitt. However, in a surprising turn of events, her role has been entirely omitted from the final version of the film.

Variety confirmed Simone’s participation in
F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski. She was seen on location at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, England, and details about her role in the film were kept confidential. The project was viewed as a potential pivotal moment for the British-Indian actress in the global film industry.
Earlier this year, Simone shared her thoughts on her experience in an interview with
Elle, stating, "I have a very small part, but I’m thankful to be in that movie. I got to witness many Grand Prix. I don’t think I’ll ever have an experience like that again."

Why was Simone's part cut from F1?
However, fans quickly noticed her absence from the teaser and official trailer of the film. It has now been confirmed that her role did not make it into the final edit. In a conversation with
People, director Joseph Kosinski elaborated, "It occurs in every film, where you have to film more than you can utilize. There were two or three storylines that ultimately didn't make it into the final cut." He also commended the actress, adding, "But Simone, she's an incredible talent, incredible actress, incredible singer, and I would love to collaborate with her again."
Simone Ashley has yet to respond to the news.
F1, which promises high-octane drama set against the exhilarating backdrop of Formula One, is scheduled to hit theatres on June 27.
