Former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, a member of the BJP's central parliamentary board, has expressed strong disapproval of the Congress government's decision to raise the housing quota for minorities in Karnataka from 10% to 15%. Speaking to the media at the BJP's state headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan in Bengaluru, he stated that providing excessive benefits to minorities is an unforgivable offense. Yediyurappa emphasized that the party is not against minorities but believes that such disproportionate advantages are unjustifiable. He criticized the government for neglecting Scheduled Castes and Tribes, accusing it of prioritizing vote bank politics over genuine development. He condemned the decision vehemently.
Yediyurappa urged the government to awaken to the pressing need for development and to ensure justice for all societal segments. He alleged that corruption is rampant within the state government, leading to a halt in most development projects. He remarked that the situation has deteriorated to the point where citizens' issues are being ignored. Criticizing the government's focus on publicity rather than progress, he claimed that irrigation projects have come to a standstill. He challenged the government to demonstrate its commitment by constructing even a kilometer of road in Karnataka.
When questioned about a viral audio clip involving Congress MLA B.R. Patil, in which he allegedly stated that money is required to obtain homes under the housing scheme, Yediyurappa affirmed that Patil's claims are entirely accurate. He stated that it has become evident that no work is accomplished without monetary exchange, even compelling the needy to pay for housing. He called on the government to acknowledge its mistakes, rectify them, and ensure justice for the impoverished.
