Nick Cox, Manchester United’s Director of Academy, is set to leave and join fellow Premier League club Everton as its Technical Director, the 13-time PL champion announced on Friday.
“Nick departs with the best wishes of everyone at Manchester United and appreciation for his valuable contribution to supporting the succession of players who graduated from the Academy,” the club said in a statement.
Cox had joined United in 2016 and later promoted to the director of the Academy in 2019. During this time, 35 academy players achieved first-team debuts.
“Youth development is an important part of the lifeblood of this club, having the responsibility of supporting this generation of young people and staff to ensure that the system continues to thrive has been an immense privilege,” Cox said.
“Working alongside some of the most talented and dedicated youth developers in the world has been a huge honour. There are countless individuals behind the scenes who play a vital role in supporting our young players to maximise their potential.
“I will be forever grateful for their support and know they will ensure that the Academy continues to go from strength to strength as the club enters an exciting new era,” he concluded.
United also stated that Cox will remain at the club for the coming months for a smoother transition with the club having a succession plan underway.
