Over the 30 years Salman Khan has been one of the biggest box office attractions in Indian cinema. Since he started his acting career with Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) the actor has given some of the biggest blockbusters. Moreover he also starred in South Indian remake films like Wanted Ready Kick and Jai Ho that became box office successes. However there was one film that he worked in which failed to make an impact both commercially and critically. Salman Khans biggest Hindi flop was a remake of... Released in 2005 the film was Kyon Ki. Starring well-known names like Kareena Kapoor Jackie Shroff Om Puri Suniel Shetty Rimi Sen and Manoj Joshi the film was reportedly the Hindi remake of the 1986 Malayalam film Thalavattam. Made in a budget of Rs 20 crore the film could only gross Rs 17 crore in India and Rs 22 crore worldwide. Renowned Filmmaker Priyadarshan who directed the Malayalam film also made the Hindi one. Though the Malayalam version garnered significant success in theatres the Hindi one became a huge flop and received negative reviews from the critics and masses. While Sunil Manchanda and Mukesh Talreja bankrolled the film Himesh Reshammiya composed all the songs. Famous singers like Kunal Ganjawala Kailash Kher Udit Narayan Shaan and Alka Yagnik gave their vocals in film. Salman Khan and Akshay Kumars Box Office Clash Director Priyadarshan whose other film Garam Masala released around the same time during Diwali became a blockbuster. Starring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham the film collected a total box office collection of over Rs 50 crore. Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor collaborated for the first time in Kyon Ki. Later the two worked in superhit films like Bodyguard and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
