According to the rules of Indian Railways, if a passenger has a general coach ticket, he can travel by another train. In such a situation, the category of trains like Vande India, Superfast, Rajdhani Express etc. also matters. However, if the passenger has a reserved ticket, then the second train cannot be traveled on the same ticket. In such a situation, you should not accidentally travel in another train with the same ticket, because you may be fined if caught.
You can apply for refund when the train is missed. For this, you log in to the IRCTC app and file TDR. You have to click on the option of the train. After this you have to click on the file TDR option. You will be presented the option of File TDR. After clicking, a ticket will appear on which you can file TDR. Choose your ticket and click on the file TDR. TDR will be filed after choosing the cause of TDR. You will get a refund within 60 days.
According to the rules of the railway, in case of confirmed train tickets, if the ticket is canceled within 48 hours from the scheduled departure time and up to 12 hours before, then 25% of the total amount will be deducted. If the ticket is canceled between 4 hours to 12 hours before the scheduled departure time of the train, half of the ticket price will be cut. Weightlist and RAC tickets will have to be canceled 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the train, otherwise no refund will be given.
