A woman has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a popular Netflix actress, authorities said.

Sara Burack,known for her appearance on Million Dollar Beach House, was hit by a car on Thursday shortly before 3am on Montauk Highway near Villa Paul Restaurant in Hampton Bays, New York. The 40-year-old was found by police officers "unconscious and with serious injuries", according to a press release from the Southampton Town Police Department.

She was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital where she sadly later died. The vehicle involved fled the scene, prompting a large-scale search by local and state authorities. Following an extensive manhunt Amanda Kempton, a 32-year-old woman from Virginia was taken into custody and charged.

Kempton was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident in which there is a fatality, a class D felony punishable by up to four years in prison, according toNew York Post.
