Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Shubman Gill’s centuries have really caught everyone’s attention in the cricket world. The young Indian team is playing aggressive cricket, really taking it to the opposition. The first day was all Team India, for sure. yashasvi’s coach, Jwala Singh, chatted with NDTV about his performance and confidently said that Jaiswal will rack up at least two more centuries in England.
When asked about how Jaiswal’s century stacks up, Singh said it was impressive both in terms of how he played and the variety of shots he used. He’s known Jaiswal since he was 12 and described him as mentally tough. He pointed out that Jaiswal’s well-placed boundary shots will stick in people’s minds, comparing his innings to Sourav Ganguly’s famous knock at Lord’s. Left-handed centuries really have their own charm, he added.
Before this Test match against England, Jaiswal wasn’t in the best light. But Singh mentioned that the BCCI had him in England early for extra practice, and that really helped. He believes that despite concerns about the team missing stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, these young players are stepping up and embracing the challenges.
When asked about what to expect next, Singh is confident that Jaiswal can add a couple more centuries. He had hoped for two centuries from him in Australia that didn’t come through, but he’s optimistic for England.
As far as results go, Singh sees this new India team making a mark. With the strong start they’ve had, he believes they can win the series, though he knows it’ll be tough. He thinks they have what it takes to finish strong and is hopeful for India to clinch the series.
