Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): On International Yoga Day, yoga programmes were held at various places in the city, with the main programme organised at the Kalidas Sanskrit Academy premises, where large school children performed various asanas under the guidance of yoga teachers.
The event started at 6 am with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s virtual address. CM Mohan Yadav also joined the programme virtually and inspired people to do yoga daily. The event ended at 7:45 am.
District minister in-charge Gautam Tetwal, Rajya Sabha member Bal Yogi Umesh Nath, Mayor Mukesh Tetwal, MLA Anil Jain Kaluheda, Ujjain Municipal Corporation speaker Kalavati Yadav, divisional commissioner Sanjay Gupta, DIG Navneet Bhasin, collector Roshan Singh, SP Pradeep Sharma and Zila Panchayat CEO Jayati Singh also participated in the main event.
School students, police, voluntary organisations, NCC-NSS cadets and common citizens also participated enthusiastically in the yoga programme.
CM Mohan Yadav Inaugurates Acharya Varahamihir Planetarium In Madhya Pradesh's UjjainMP Anil Firojiya arrived when more than half the yoga programme was over and was seen looking for his place. He was seen observing others performing yoga, but later he also joined them.
A ‘Yoga Sangam’ programme was organised at Vikram University. Vice-chancellor Prof Arpan Bhardwaj said that a healthy body leads to a healthy life. This day is celebrated on June 21 world over and gives international recognition to India's yoga.
Family members celebrated International Yoga Day on Saturday morning at Gayatri Shakti Peeth. On this occasion, family members did yoga under the guidance of yoga teachers. Along with this, the importance of yoga and its benefits were also explained.
