It is believed that Lord Hanuman took Sanjeevani Booti for Laxman ji from here during the Ramayana period. Its modern discovery took place in 1931 when the British climber Frank Smith returned from the mountain and wandered here. Seeing its beauty, he was stunned and later wrote a book called ‘The Valley of Flowers’ and introduced the world to this paradise.

The journey to reach here is also a wonderful experience in itself.
first stop: The journey starts from Rishikesh or Haridwar, from where you have to reach Govindghat via Joshimath. This is the last stop of the road.
Second stop: The real adventure begins with Govindghat. From here you have to track about 14 kilometers on foot and reach Ghangharia village. This is the base camp of this journey, where hotels and guest houses are present to stay at night.
Last floor: The next day, after an easy climb of about 3 kilometers from Ghangharia, you step into the magical world called ‘Valley of Flowers’.
