Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In a significant diplomatic overture aimed at resolving a decade of hostility, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced his readiness to hold talks with his newly elected Andhra Pradesh counterpart, N. Chandrababu Naidu. The goal is to find a lasting solution to the contentious disputes over the sharing of Krishna and Godavari river waters.

The move marks a potential turning point in the relationship between the two Telugu-speaking states, which has been fraught with tension since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014. At the heart of the conflict are key irrigation and power projects, including Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar, with both states laying claim to a larger share of the water resources.

While extending an olive branch, Chief Minister Reddy made it clear that any dialogue must be centered on protecting the legitimate interests of Telangana’s people and farmers. He emphasized that his government is open to a “give-and-take” policy but will not compromise on the state’s rightful share of water.

This initiative comes at a crucial time, as new leadership is in place in both states, presenting a fresh opportunity for dialogue. A successful negotiation could end years of political friction and legal battles, bringing much-needed stability and cooperation that would benefit millions who depend on the rivers for their livelihood. The next move now rests with Andhra Pradesh to reciprocate the offer and come to the negotiating table.
