New Delhi: EPOS has introduced an entry level headset for professions that require continuous use of voice communications. The Impact 100 is a value for money offering with a focus on hardy construction and minimal weight. There is a mono version available that has only one earpad. The ultra-lightweight design pairs leatherette earpads with a silicone headband for maximal comfort, allowing for stress-free extended use. The mono variant weighs 51 grams, while the stereo headset weighs 76 grams. The wired headset uses a USB-C connector with a USB-A adapter, so connectivity is not a problem. The in-line controller has backlit buttons for mute, call and Microsoft Teams.
The strong point about the device is the wide range of certifications. The Impact 100 boasts of Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Zoom Contact Center, Google Meet, Made for Chromebook and Cisco Webex certifications. Both the Stereo and Mono variants are certified for Microsoft Teams, with a Stereo variant available without the Microsoft Teams certification. There is a single microphone on a boom arm that rotates 270 degrees, which can be used as easily on the left and right ears. The in-line controller lacks volume rocker buttons, but provides a tactile experience, allowing for operating the buttons without looking at the device. The mute and call buttons are depressed while the teams button protrudes.
The cord length is a comfortable two metres, and EPOS provides a carry pouch with the device as well. The headset is available only in black. Vice President of Research and Development at EPOS, Jesper Kock said, “The Impact 100 marks a significant addition to our portfolio, delivering high-quality sound and comfort. This upgrade to our legacy product exemplifies our commitment to innovation, bringing top-tier performance to an entry-level headset price.” The barebones headset is sparse in terms of features, but there is noise cancellation on the microphone. This is a commercial device with discounts for high volume orders.
