New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India have introduced the EQS 580 4MATIC “Celebration Edition”, which is a limited-edition trim of their flagship electric sedan, coming at a price of Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom). The launch coincides with the opening of a new “Atelier Experience’ retail facility in Adyar, Chennai, as part of the company’s wider expansion of its luxury retail network.
This launch comes amid strong growth in the company’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio, which has seen a 73% increase year-on-year up to May 2025. The growth is being credited to the increased demand for the high-end BEVs, which include the likes of EQS sedan and SUV, EQS Maybach SUV and G 580 with EQ technology.
The EQ 580 “Celebration Edition” comes with several comfort-focused enhancements, focusing a lot on the rear-seat passengers. These include features like the multi-contour rear seats with lumbar support and massage functions, executive seats that recline as far as 38 degrees, along with a Chauffeur Package with electronically adjustable front seats.
Further highlights also include Nappa leather upholstery, designer belt buckles and MBUX augmented reality navigation. The electric sedan also has an ARAI-certified range of above 800 km and will be exclusive to just 50 units.
The newly established ‘Atelier Experience’ in Chennai gives a personalised vehicle configuration environment under the Mercedes-Benz program MANUFAKTUR. It is located in the Adyar area and the facility spans 3,800 square feet on 7,500 square foot plots and comes with digital and physical tools for the configuration of luxury vehicles across sub-brands like the Maybach, AMG, G-Class and Mercedes-Benz.
In 2025, the brand launched 11 new luxury touchpoints and plans to open 19 more in the coming five months. In line with their “go-to customer” strategy, Mercedes-Benz is expanding to upcoming markets like Patna, Kanpur, Udaipur, Varanasi, and Bhopal while continuing to invest in bespoke experiences for metro customers.
The Adyar showroom was inaugurated by Santosh Iyer, MD and CEO to Mercedes-Benz India, along with Sharath Vijayaraghavan, Executive Director of Sundaram Motors, marking yet another milestone in the German brand’s collaboration with Sundaram Motors.
Mercedes are cementing their place in the electric luxury segment. The country has seen some rise in terms of EV demand overall with heavy incentives coming from the government a well.
