Weather Update- IMD issued heavy warning in Maharashtra, red alert in Konkan and orange alert in Pune

Friends, monsoon has spread its wings in the country, the southwest monsoon has once again become active, causing widespread rainfall in many parts of South and Central India including Maharashtra. Monsoon has reached Maharashtra and with favorable weather conditions, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rains in many areas, let's know the full details about it-

Current weather conditions

The southwest monsoon has again intensified, bringing heavy rains to Maharashtra, Karnataka and other South Indian states.

IMD has issued a red alert for Konkan and an orange alert for Pune, warning of very heavy rains in the next 24 hours.

IMD Alert

Red Alert:

Konkan region - Residents are advised to be extremely vigilant as heavy rains may lead to floods and landslides, especially in low-lying areas.

Orange alert:

Pune, Mumbai, Palghar, Satara, Kolhapur - These areas are expected to receive heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.

Yellow alert:

Central and North Maharashtra - Moderate rainfall is expected.

Vidarbha region - Light to moderate rainfall is likely till June 17.

Precautions and advisories

People living in high-alert zones should follow all guidelines issued by local authorities.

Avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from water-logged or low-lying areas.

Fishermen along the Konkan coast have been warned not to venture into the sea due to strong winds and bad weather.

Despite the red alert, the IMD has indicated that rainfall will gradually reduce after June 17 and some areas may get an orange alert in place of the red alert.
