Tel Aviv: On Monday, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) revealed that their Air Force executed a series of airstrikes targeting significant command centers and assets linked to Iran's internal security forces and the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Tehran.
According to the IDF, over 50 fighter jets were involved in this latest offensive, aimed at crippling the military capabilities of the Iranian regime. The strikes focused on military headquarters, missile production facilities, and storage sites in the Tehran region.
The IDF specifically mentioned the targeting of the 'Tharallah' headquarters, which serves as a central command for the Revolutionary Guards, tasked with safeguarding Tehran against various security threats, including internal ones. Additionally, the 'Sayed Al-Shahada' Brigade, also under the Revolutionary Guards, was among the targets.
The IDF emphasized its commitment to intensifying operations against the Iranian regime's military strength to ensure Israel's security.
One of the key targets was the Basij headquarters, a central base for the IRGC known for enforcing Islamic law and monitoring civilian compliance.
The operation also included strikes on the Alborz Corps, responsible for maintaining security in several Tehran cities and supporting the regime's stability. The Israeli forces also targeted the Intelligence and General Security Police, integral to the Iranian military structure.
These strikes are designed to undermine the Iranian regime's military effectiveness and its control capabilities, as the command centers play a crucial role in military operations.
The IDF reported that six airports across western, central, and eastern Iran were also hit, damaging runways, underground hangars, and various aircraft, including F-14s, F-5s, and AH-1s.
The IDF stated that these aircraft were intended to counter Israeli Air Force (IAF) operations, and the damage inflicted would hinder the Iranian military's air operations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated the country's resolve to continue its military operations, stating, 'Israel will persist in its efforts in both Iran and Gaza,' and emphasized that they would not be drawn into a prolonged conflict.
Netanyahu declared, 'We will not cease this historic operation until we accomplish our objectives.'
Reports also indicated that following recent US strikes on Iran's nuclear sites, the Iranian parliament has voted to support the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil transit route. However, any final decision on retaliation will be made by the Supreme National Security Council.
