A flight carrying 290 Indian nationals and one Sri Lankan national reached New Delhi at 7:15 pm on Monday. The flight had brought people from Mashhad in Iran and was part of Operation Sindhu. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a post on X, "With this, 2003 Indian nationals have been safely brought back from Iran so far."

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that 290 Indian nationals and one Sri Lankan were evacuated from Mashhad and all of them reached New Delhi on Monday at 7.15 pm on a special flight. A total of 161 Indians evacuated from Israel to the Jordanian capital under India's evacuation operation 'Operation Sindhu' are also reaching New Delhi on a special flight from Amman. Officials said that the Indian nationals are expected to reach the national capital at midnight.

Earlier on Saturday, a special flight carrying 285 Indian nationals from Mashhad under 'Operation Sindhu' reached Delhi. All these passengers were from states like Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

On June 18, India announced the launch of 'Operation Sindhu' to evacuate its citizens from Iran. The first group of 110 Indian citizens safely evacuated from Iran reached India on June 19. Many people told their ordeal about the horrific situation there. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh welcomed these people when they arrived at Delhi airport.

Similarly, under Operation Sindhu, another evacuation plane from Mashhad reached New Delhi on June 21 at 4.30 pm with 310 Indian citizens from Iran, after which the number of Indians evacuated safely from there reached 827, which has now exceeded 2000. The tension in the Middle East is increasing due to the war between Iran and Israel. In such a situation, India has decided that it will bring back its citizens trapped in both countries safely.
