Waves of missile barrages have been launched at Israel from Iran in the hours after President Donald Trump's 'total' ceasefire came into effect at 4am local time.

Prior to the alleged ceasefire deal coming into effect, the Israeli Air Force carried out an intense bombing campaign across Tehran and other targets within Iran, with repeated explosions being heard in the capital.

However, these strikes came to a halt shortly before the deadline set in place by President Trump's claimed ceasefire deal. But then, thousands of Israelis were urged to find shelter after new missile launches were detected from Iran.

During the following waves of missiles sent at Israel, a large explosion could be seen in a southern city, where initial reports indicate multiple casualties.
