BJP Questions Rahul Gandhi's Foreign Travels
New Delhi: Amit Malviya, a prominent figure in the BJP, has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of taking undisclosed trips abroad, asserting that as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP), he owes the public an explanation.
In a post shared on his X account, Malviya revealed that Gandhi had recently returned from a secret vacation and has embarked on another trip to an undisclosed destination.
Malviya questioned the rationale behind these frequent absences, stating, “What is so urgent that keeps him away from India so often? As LoP, he must provide answers to the citizens.”
The Congress party swiftly countered these allegations, accusing the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) of engaging in deceptive tactics.
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera took to X to clarify that Rahul Gandhi is currently in London for his niece's graduation ceremony.
Khera stated, “The PMO is resorting to its usual dirty tricks. Rahul Gandhi is in London for his niece's graduation and will return shortly.”
Concerns regarding Rahul Gandhi's international travels have been a recurring theme. His absence during a recent visit by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to the site of an Air India crash raised eyebrows. However, Gandhi expressed his condolences on X, describing the incident as heartbreaking and urging Congress members to assist on the ground.
He was also seen on June 19, celebrating his birthday with his mother, Sonia Gandhi, after her discharge from the hospital.
Despite Malviya's criticisms regarding Gandhi's foreign trips, the Congress leader has remained active on social media. On June 21, he criticized the Modi government's 'Make in India' initiative, stating, “We assemble, import, but don’t build. China profits: The clock is ticking.” He also shared a video from his visit to Nehru Place, Delhi's largest electronics market, where he interacted with mobile repair technicians.
