England openers Jack Croly and Ben Docket broke the 76 -year -old record in the second innings of the first Test against India at the headingley ground in Leeds. Chasing a target of 371 runs in the fourth innings, the two batsmen gave England a strong start and performed well in the first session on the fifth day of the match.
Crowley and Duckck added 96 runs without losing any wickets between bad weather and floodlight, with England score 117/0 till lunch. The partnership also broke the record of the biggest opening partnership in the fourth innings in Headingley. Earlier, this record was in 1949 in New Zealand’s Vardun Scott and Burt Sutklif, who shared a 112 -run partnership against England.
Crowley and Docket are now at number one in the top opening partnerships of the fourth innings in Headingley, while the New Zealand pair is second. Apart from this, the pair of Gordon Greenies and Desmond Hens, Graeme Fouler and Chris Tawre, and Jeff Dujon and Desmond Hens are also included in the list.
Apart from this, Croli and Docket have jointly completed 2000 runs as opening batsmen. She has become the eighth opening pair of England to achieve this feat. The highest run in this list is the names of Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss, who have scored a total of 4711 runs. Strauss has also scored 2670 runs as an opening pair for England, which is in fourth place.
In the first session, the England batsmen made a brilliant start and scored 96 runs without losing any wicket.
