This Week in Golf: Big names, bigger prizes, and LIV drama heating up in Dallas
June 25, 2025 03:39 AM

As the summer sun blazes across the golfing world, the week of June 25 to July 2 promises an electrifying mix of tournaments across the globe with elite pros, high stakes, and drama-packed leaderboards.

First up, all eyes are on Argentario Golf Club in Tuscany, where the Italian Open (June 26–29) tees off as part of the Rolex Series on the DP World Tour.

With $3 million up for grabs, expect a strong European field led by stars like Tommy Fleetwood, Adrian Meronk, and Italy’s own Guido Migliozzi hoping to shine on home soil. The scenic coastal layout promises a dramatic test of shot-making and strategy.

Dubai-based Tommy Fleetwood sets sights on Tuscany glory as he headlines the star-studded Italian Open.

Across the Atlantic, the Rocket Mortgage Classic (June 26–29) returns to Detroit Golf Club. While not the biggest event on the PGA Tour, the $9.6 million purse and FedExCup points draw notable contenders such as Rickie Fowler, Tony Finau, and rising star Ludvig Åberg. Known for low-scoring and Sunday fireworks, this one’s a fan-favorite.

Meanwhile, the drama intensifies in Texas as LIV Golf Dallas (June 29–July 1) rolls into Maridoe Golf Club. With $25 million in prize money and both team and individual glory at stake, expect fireworks from captains like Bubba Watson (RangeGoats), Dustin Johnson (4Aces), and Bryson DeChambeau (Crushers). With the season heating up, every shot matters in the race to the Team Championship.

In Asia, local fans will cheer on top domestic talent at the Japan Players Championship in Tochigi (June 29), a must-watch on the Japan Golf Tour. Meanwhile, in China, the Guangdong Open takes place as a Challenge Tour-sanctioned event, a key stop for aspiring pros hoping to break through internationally.

Rounding out the week, elite amateur golfers compete in Portugal at the European Individual Mid-Amateur Championship, showcasing seasoned talent outside the pro ranks.

Whether it’s the DP WorldPGA tour or LIV Golf, this week’s global golf calendar delivers something for everyone. Do get ready for seven days of entertaining golf.
