Indian Govt Urges Windows 10 Users To Upgrade To Windows 11 To Prevent Data Leak: Here's How To Do It

Microsoft has announced that it is ending support for Windows 10 on October 14 this year. The Indian Government has now issued an advisory to all Windows 10 users to update to Windows 11 as soon as possible. Once Microsoft’s support has ended for Windows 10 users, the devices running on the software will be prone to zero day attacks and malware breaches. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued this advisory for all Windows 10 users. “Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 is approaching the end of their support lifecycle on October 14, 2025. After this date, Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes, or technical support from Microsoft. Systems running on Windows 10 will become increasingly susceptible to zero-day attacks, malicious software, ransomware, and phishing attacks,” the advisory warns. CERT-In has asked Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11 to continue ‘receiving critical security updates’. For those who cannot update to Windows 11 before the given deadline, the team has issued a workaround as well. “Individual consumers and organizations who need more time to transition to Windows 11 have the option of enrolling in the paid Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for critical patches,” CERT-In adds. It is important to note that the ESU program, priced at $30 for a year, does not extend the official product lifecycle or offer full technical support for the product beyond its lifecycle.
