Thiruvananthapuram |Sivagiri Math head Swami Satchidananda on Wednesday continued to lavish praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he embodies integrity, purity of ideals, spiritual depth, and discipline like Mahatma Gandhi.

The monk said he felt Modi was a faithful, idealistic, and virtuous person, and there is no history that he has ever rejected or denounced any religion so far.

Satchidananda is the president of the renowned Sivagiri Math in Kerala, founded by sage-social reformer Sree Narayana Guru, who advocated "one caste, one religion, and one God" for human beings.

Swami's latest remark on the Prime Minister came a day after he said that Modi is the only PM who has described Sree Narayana Guru as the soul of India.

While speaking at an event in New Delhi on Tuesday to mark the centenary celebration of the conversation between the Guru and Mahatma Gandhi, Satchidananda had described Modi as "a great son of India".

In the presence of the Prime Minister, he had further said his devotion to the Sivagiri and Sree Narayana Guru was quite evident.

He had said the prime minister attended the centenary celebration event entirely of his own accord, without any recommendations from anyone.

"When the Sivagiri Math sent an email to his office, the Prime Minister personally contacted the Math and conveyed his willingness to participate in the event," the Swami had said.

When reporters asked about his remarks, the monk said here on Wednesday that he formed his opinion after realising the personal charisma of the Prime Minister.

He said that after Modi had become the PM, many tried to create the impression that something negative would happen in the country.

But, during his tenure as PM in the last 10-11 years, there is no information that Modi has ever rejected or denounced any religion in the country.

He has always taken a stand, completely accepting other religions, the head of the Sivagiri Math further said.

"We can see the integrity, purity of ideals, spiritual depth, and discipline of Mahatma Gandhi in Modi," the Swami added.

While replying to a question, Satchidananda also said that though Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had been invited several times to take part in Sivagiri Math programmes, they didn't attend.
